We Exist In Black

when the sun warms our days and the sky way up high is filled with blue, gives that will make the contrast by using the color deeper, more intense of all colors, black.
truly fantastic, when we use the black in the daytime sun, we feel an immense inner power, an unshakable force.
we exist in black.
we fuse it in with black.

The Bohemian Word || Balzac

***
In the fifteenth century, it has come to mean 'Gypsy' or members of nomadic tribes allegedly originating in the Bohemia region.
In the seventeenth century, with Tallemant des Réaux, bohème shall also designate the individual "who leads a dissolute life," a lifestyle characterized by the lack of concern with regard to material goods, to large projects, standards. It was to describe a life on the margins of society and cultivate a new form of freedom of thought, and a concern to use such eccentric clothes.

The term goes from French to Portuguese within the meaning of the seventeenth century: 'bum, individual riotous living' or unconventional, possibly linked to the arts or literature, or mere adventurer who lived carefree manner.

In this sense, later, in the nineteenth century it appears an artistic and literary movement, made on the sidelines of the Romantic movement, more "aristocratic" and out of use of their time.

Balzac is that in 1844, when he wrote A Prince of Bohemia, is high praise to such juvenile behavior: "The Bohemian word says it all. She has nothing and lives of all. Hope is its religion, faith itself is the code, charity your budget. All these young people are bigger than their misfortune, below the luck, but above the target. "

The Portuguese Shawl : Origins

Use the scarf or shawl (the Persian shal) is very old, at least in the East, maybe it's originally from Kashmir, its main production center. In the West its use appears only in the early nineteenth century.

The use of the shawl seems to have been introduced to Europe around 1798 by French soldiers who made the campaign in Egypt.

They were very expensive, and the finest that were made of the hair of a goat that existed in northern India and its preparation took about a year.

However, in 1818, the French began to imitate the Shawl of Kashmir, but the warp was silk and woof in Tibetan goat hair and merino or Australian wool, maintaining the richness of colors and the beauty of typically oriental designs, but as its use has been disclosing any material or design served to your clothing.

In Portugal they entered slowly.

The first shawls have been brought by ship captains that offered to their wives. Initially were used as the house ornament, only later they began to appear at dances involving the shoulders of women.

The exceptional Revenant

The 73rd Golden Globe Awards took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on last 10th January and it was as amazing night for The Revenant.

So well deserved the Golden Globe for Best Actor Drama for Leonardo DiCaprio for The Revenant, the best director for Alejandro Inarritu and for sure the best movie for The Revenant!

Amazing and powerful acceptance speech of Leonardo DiCaprio calling everyone attention to protect native lands and their legacy. So deep words spoken with emotion by the brilliant actor.

Really can't wait for the premiere at Portugal to go see it, I had read the book and fall in love with the story. I was reading it and trying to imagine how Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy would play their parts and only masters of cinema can bring alive that incredible story.

Here goes my fav from that night from Leonardo DiCaprio always so elegant, to Harrison Ford, to the ladies specially Jennifer Lawrence in a stunning red color, Julianne Moore and Kate Winslet both in a beautiful blue to the beautiful family of Sylvester Stallone dating the dad.

Hollywood knows how to present us with glamour and it was there, but there's more to come, more awards and the final big night, the Oscars.

See you there!

jeans addiction

Addicted to jeans since ever.

Couldn't live without they, always mix them with so many different styles and looks.

Lately, much more into the vintage models and re-inventing the way to wear them.

If you have old pieces in your wardrobe, try it! Be creative!

If you don't, you should go add them to your closet, you will love it!

We are used to see Marilyn Monroe in beautiful dresses, but as for me, she wears even casual looks in a so lady style better than everyone else.

Here goes some good inspiration to try this new year!

winter: the origins

Winter days & nights are around us, as we walk towards to Spring.

Meanwhile, let's enjoy the best of cold days and be creative in our looks, hobbies & to do stuff.

And by the way, where it comes from? So funny, I live you here the origins of this!

Have fun this season, dear friends!

The word winter comes from an old Germanic word that means "time of water" and refers to the rain and snow - as well as low temperatures - of the season in middle and high latitudes. In the Northern Hemisphere, it is commonly regarded as extending from the winter solstice (the year's shortest day), December 21 or 22, to the vernal equinox, the start of Spring.

The word winter came into English c 888.
